Purpose Statement for
MCC BC Resource Development

The purpose of the Resource Development department is to generate financial and material resources from donors (individuals, churches, businesses, and organizations) who are, or wish to become part of the MCC constituency.

A Brief Synopsis of Christian Giving

The apostle Paul tells us in 2nd Corinthians 8 and 9 that:

  • Giving should be an act of joy
  • Giving should be an expression of one’s own experience of and trust in God’s love and care
  • Giving should be a reflection of one’s sense of being a partner in God’s work in the world

Confidence in God’s Provision: We are confident in God’s ability to provide for the needs of the people we serve through our generous donors, because God ultimately is the owner of everything we possess.

A Holistic Approach to Kingdom Partners – We believe in cooperation, not competition among Christian organizations and we recognize the value of a diversity of ministries.

Core Theological Beliefs and Values – We are motivated by the essential theological tenets of our own Christian Mennonite tradition and allow that tradition to shape the work of how we raise resources.

Giving Donors Opportunities for Participation – We welcome participation in our ministry and are always looking for ways to involve our partners not just in giving money, but also in giving their hearts and lives. Paul says to the Philippians concerning their gifts to support him in ministry, “Not that I am looking for a gift, but I am looking for what may be credited to your account.” (Philippians 4:17)
