About the MCC Thrift Shops

The MCC Thrift Shops have a philosophy that includes a concern for the environment, care and respect for all of God's creation. By its very nature, the Thrift Shops demonstrate good stewardship of material resources by reusing, reducing and recycling. The values of volunteering and the community spirit of working for a common cause come together to provide a creative, meaningful outlet for local people.

Generous donations of good used items to the Thrift Shops are accepted by volunteers who sort, repair, and price them. These volunteers also staff the shops. Unsalable items are recycled into rugs, quilts, and blankets, commercial rags and other crafted items.

What will you find in our shops? Clothing and footwear, bedding, books, collectibles and antiques, kitchen items, decorator items, household goods, jewelry, toys, games, furniture, hardware and gardening tools, bicycles and more. Here in BC, our Thrift Shops have raised over $1 million dollars annually over the last number of years. Your purchases are a gift to others, enabling MCC to do its work in more than 50 countries worldwide.

Volunteers make it happen at these stores, if you would like to volunteer for all or part of a day each week or once a month or if you have time to do some work from home, contact the store nearest you and talk to the manager.

The MCC BC Auxiliary is the MCC BC Thrift, Furniture and Appliance Shops Board. The committees of the MCC BC thrift shops are part of this auxiliary board. We meet about seven or eight times a year in Abbotsford at the MCC BC offices on Marshall Road. We have an annual meeting each year at the same time that the MCC BC Board has its annual meeting in early November. The annual auxiliary meeting is not only for the auxiliary members, but also for all, young and older, male or female, who are interested in the work of MCC and wanting to help others in need.
