Board member Shirley Hsu enjoys a cup of coffee after
registering for the Annual Meeting and Conference. Over 150 people from
across BC attended the event on November 14th.

Our Daily Bread - Caring in the Name of Christ. This was
the theme for this year's meeting as we explored the issues of food
security around the world.

Executive Director Wayne Bremner greets delegates and
visitors at the Annual Meeting and Conference held at Culloden MB Church
in Vancouver.

Willie Reimer, Director of Food, Disaster and Material
Resources for MCC Binational, leads a workshop titled "The Anatomy of a
Disaster". Reimer talked about the steps MCC goes through from the
moment a disaster strikes to mobilizing resources in response.

Jon Nofziger, Peace and Development Education Coordinator,
moderates the panel discussion. The panel consisted of Dave Auperlee
(Jacob's Well), Karyn Santiago (Fraser Valley Gleaners) Dave Murray
(Abbotsford Food Bank) and Bruce Guenther, Bruce Guenther, Program
Coordinator MCC Food, Dsaster and Material Resources. Each panelist
discussed the challenges faced by those whom they serve.

Elsie Goerzen, Abuse Prevention Program Coordinator leads a
workshop on the work done by this program in BC.

Brandon Thiessen recently returned from a Voluntary Service
assignment in Burundi. Here he addresses participants in a workshop on
food security. Brandon also contributed photo art to the Arts and Peace
Festival Art Gallery.

In his keynote address to delegates and guests at the
Annual Conference, Willie Reimer said "Today we have many examples of
people excluded from the basic necessities of life. The current economic
crisis has meant that 'Give us this day our daily bread' has become much
for expensive for many people in the world."

Friends wish each other a safe journey as the MCC BC's
Annual Meeting comes to a close. It was a day filled with food for
thought as much as body.
"What a great day this has been," said one participant. "You folks do
such a great job at showing us what MCC does around the world. I just
wish more people could have been here!"
