Employment and Community Development Program
The Employment and Community Development Program at MCC BC was established in 1990. It's purpose is to enable people and communities toward economic self-reliance by empowering them to discover their gifts, develop their abilities, and to mobilize resources to find sustainable work.
Work is a central part of many people's lives. It consumes more than half of our waking hours, provides for our families, uses our gifts and abilities and connects us to community. With the rise of globalization and rapid changes in technology, the world of work is changing in dramatic ways presenting challenges to job seekers. Long-term full time employment is becoming less of a norm whilst more and more employment opportunities are short term and part time in nature with a greater emphasis on self-employment.
