New Foundations

New Foundations - MCC BC Child Poverty Alleviation Project

 

New Foundations, in partnership with World Vision, is a program of MCC BC. The objective of New Foundations is the empowerment of its clients: single mother refugee claimants and newly-arrived sponsored refugees in Vancouver to improve their economic conditions via selected hands-on and life-giving community activities. These are:

Nutrition enhancement through community kitchen sessions and gardening, in which clients will acquire:

  • Knowledge about affordable nutrition management


Job search and employability skills building through work experience and/or training including ESL, in which clients will get:

  • Assistance with improving their ESL skills for effective employability


Asset building, in which clients will learn:

  • Valuable financial management skills and participation in a matched savings program
